The 2015 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru is showing nicely, unwinding in the glass with aromas of plums, red berries and sweet spices, framed by a deft application of new oak. Full-bodied, velvety and supple, its ample core of fruit largely conceals its powdery structuring tannins. Nicely balanced, this is a serious, concentrated wine that's still a little reserved, needing more time in the cellar.

Full deep red. Musky dark raspberry, espresso and dark chocolate on the nose, complemented by an element of graphite minerality. Tighter by far than the Nuits- Saint-Georges Les Boudots but with no hardness to its berry and mineral flavors; in fact, this classy wine is downright velvety with some aeration. Finishes firm, penetrating and very long, with excellent precision and lift. This should evolve slowly and gracefully.
