The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Mourre Des Perdrix comes from slightly more sandy soils around the estate and is 69% Grenache, 15% each Syrah and Mourvedre, and a splash of Cinsault. Ripe cherries, dried raspberries, spice box, Provençal herbs, and savory flower notes all define the bouquet, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. This is always the most seamless and finesse-driven of Charbonniere's releases, and while it will drink well on release, it has the capacity to evolve for 15-20 years.

The plush, expansive 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Mourre des Perdrix exudes plummy richness and hints of licorice and dark chocolate. It's full-bodied and velvety in feel, with a long, warming finish tinged with garrigue and super-ripe berries.

I love the enveloping nose of ripe red plum and Mediterranean herbs of this stunning Chateauneuf. Excellent concentration and stacks of fine tannins. The harmony and vitality on the full-bodied palate is remarkable. Very long, emphatically dry, and stony finish. A cuvee of 69% grenache, 15% syrah, 15% mourvedre and 1% cinsault. Drink or hold.

Checking in at a whopping 16% alcohol, the 2020 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Mourre des Perdrix is a shimmering pale ruby. It mingles aromas of ripe red and black fruits, exotic spices, licorice and crushed rocks. Ripe tannins wrap up this full-bodied, concentrated powerhouse, well-balanced by refreshing acidity. It closes with a savory, persistent finish.
