The 2018 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru has an odd nose, lacking the intensity of the first two Clos-de-Beze, a bit awkward and stalky but that will be resolved with time in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, white pepper, marmalade and orange peel. Quite focused and linear, perhaps the nose is just going through an awkward phase? Indeed, the aromatics improve and the palate develops more and more depth. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
