It is really still too early to be opening bottles of Vincent Dancer's 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée, but the wine's quality is already apparent. Unwinding in the decanter and glass with notes of green orchard fruit, hazelnut cream, beeswax and light framing reduction, on the palate this La Romanée is full-bodied, satiny and ample with a tensile line of balancing acids and a long, stony and electric finish. The real excitement will begin after 4-5 more years in the cellar.

Musky lime and quinine aromas show an element of noble reduction. Dense, broad and sweet but conveys a weightless impression to its citrus and spice flavors. The long, tactile, glistening finish features saline minerality and leaves the salivary glands quivering. Dancer will rack his 2014s into cuves in August and leave them there for six months prior to bottling them.
