The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Vignes Franches is a brilliant wine from this small, enclosed vineyard. Bursting with aromas of sweet cherries, raspberries, rose petals, licorice, spices and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with supple tannins, fine depth at the core and a sensual, gourmand but vibrant profile.

The 2020 Beaune Les Vignes Franches ler Cru, from very limestone soils, was picked on 20 August, contains 60% whole bunch and matured in 50% new oak. Dark cherries, iodine and light minerally scents unfurl on the nose, just a faint hint of liquorice in the background, this is complex and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, good body and density here with a fine bead of acidity with satisfying grip on the Pommard-like finish. Excellent.
