Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Musigny 2017
|Region||France, Burgundy, Gevrey-Chambertin|
This Grand Cru is matured in 100% new oak barrels with personalised toasts made from a selection of the finest woods from the forests in the Allier and Nivernais regions. The colour of the Musigny is a delicate and deep magenta purple with wild rose, violet, blackcurrant and raspberry on the nose. With age come odours of leather and cherry spirit. Its almost caramelized grapes and aromas of open flowers embalm the palate with a texture of voluptuous taffetas. Its length leads us towards the endless complexity of its aromas. Pair with semi-cooked foie gras terrine with roasted figs, scrambled eggs forest, burgundy trout, duck aiguillette with orange.
The 2017 Musigny Grand Cru has not be racked, the two barrels just rolled, this cuvée matures in 100% new oak with 25% whole bunches. It has a very refined and focused bouquet, the new oak very well integrated here, layers of black cherries, boysenberry and crushed stone aromas. It conveys the nobility one expects from this Grand Cru. The palate is medium- bodied with firm but fine tannin. There is an arching structure to this Musigny with impressive density and girth on the persistent finish. Excellent.
