Gerard Mugneret Vosne Romanee Aux Vigneux 2020
|Region||France, Burgundy, Vosne-Romanée|
It's deep and rich but not heavy. A friend of mine compares it to a provincial barrister: distinguished, presents well, doesn't appear to be generous. But the wine is not what it appears to be at first glance and is in fact generous. It's multi-faceted. It is more complex than Quatrains and with a less obvious spine than Précolombière.
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Vigneux has an elegant bouquet with dark cherries and blueberry fruit, quite floral with well integrated oak. The palate is very harmonious with fine tannins, quite poised and maybe a little tight on the finish, but there is real clarity and precious strung through this excellent Vosne-Romanée.
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Vigneux mingles notions of plums and wild berries with aromas of incense, rose petals and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, with a pretty core of nicely concentrated fruit, lively acids and powdery stem tannin that asserts itself on the finish, it will demand some patience.
