Gerard Mugneret Bourgogne Les Rouges Champs 2020
|Region||France, Burgundy, Bourgogne|
Les Rouges Champs has a much more focused core than the regular Bourgogne. The clays are white (contrarily to the vineyard's name) and that's where the lift and extra linearity come from. There is also finesse. It is a brilliant Bourgogne that bats way above its hierarchy.
The 2020 Bourgogne Les Rouge Champs is slightly higher toned than the regular Village Cru, well- defined with raspberry and wild cherry scents. The palate has a good backbone, quite saline with dark berry fruit mixed with brown spices on the finish. Very fine.
The 2020 Bourgogne Les Rouges Champs unwinds in the glass with aromas of plums, wild berries, warm spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, with a velvety attack and an ample core of perfumed fruit, it's a lively, charming wine derived from holdings opposite the Clos de Vougeot.
