Walking the vineyard in late summer of 2010, we knew we were on to something great. The canopy was perfectly balanced and the currant-sized berries were already showing some of the power and vibrancy that characterizes this famous site. However, nothing could really prepare us for how good this wine would truly become. After going into a sleeper phase for a few months as it aged away in it's French Oak home, what emerged was nothing short of breathtaking. The perfumed fragrance combines a seductive core of mocha, rose water, anise and cedar. The flavors are rich and lush oak intermingled with clove, lavish black cherry, with a tight and focused core of tobacco and plush candied plum. There is fine layer of tannin-distinctive of this renowned Yountville site - that balances out and lengthens the richer finish of coco and pomegranate preserve. Lush and Lavish in its youth, this wine will age beautifully for the next 20 - 30 years in your cellar.
Starts soft and herbal before turning dry and chewy. The core flavors are built around berry, savory herb and cedar, but come up shy on density. Drink now through 2019. 80 cases made.
