Domaine Bruno Clair Chambertin Clos de Bèze 2016

SKU 11427

We have the privilege to farm this exceptional terroir. Two thirds of the plot were planted in 1912 and the remainder in 1972. Our plot extends upwards on the slope. The upper part, poorer and stony, gives an aromatic wine of great finesse whereas the lower part, richer and clayey brings power and richness. The vintage thus obtained makes the synthesis of these qualities combining finesse and power, richness and complexity. Wine for ageing.

Wine AdvocateThe 2016 Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru has perfumed strawberry and raspberry scents on the nose, a little predictable maybe after the scintillating Clos Saint-Jacques. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannin, quite masculine and structured, a slight coarseness to the tannin with a fresh finish that will require several years to unfurl. A bit of a curmudgeon at the moment although I am sure it will come good.
