Domaine Ramonet Chevalier Montrachet 2015

Domaine Ramonet Chevalier Montrachet 2015

SKU 1760

This Grand Cru vineyard is located above Montrachet at an altitude of 870-950 feet. The wine was named "Chevalier," meaning "knight," due to the vineyard's high altitude, a historical reference to the honor given to the oldest son of a noble person in the Chevalerie Military Order. The soils are thin and composed of stony rendzinas derived from marls and marly-limestones, giving full-body and masculine characters to the wine with compelling depth, finesse and sophistication.

Wine SpectatorThis is tightly wound, with lemon, apple, chalk and spice flavors locked within a powerful structure. Layers of citrus, stone fruit and mineral play out as this white extends on the complex finish. Best from 2021 through 2032. 5 cases imported.

Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is a magical wine, offering up a youthfully reserved bouquet of lemon oil, preserved citrus, white flowers, subtle oak vanillin, wheat toast and a smoky top note. On the palate, the wine is searingly intense, with superb concentration, lovely depth and dimension and incredible energy in this ripe white Burgundy vintage. Unsurprisingly, this is the most tensile, vertical wine in the Ramonet cellars this year and will benefit accordingly from bottle age.
