Carlisle Sonoma County Zinfandel 2010

Carlisle Sonoma County Zinfandel 2010

Very dark ruby-purple. A fascinating nose of blackberry, cherry, and of all things, peaches! Reminds me of Kendall's summer-time cobbler. Smooth and full-bodied on entry, flavors of stone fruits (black plums, peaches, and apricots) build through the lip-smacking finish. Either enjoy this wine upon release or give it until 2014 to allow some the youthful tannins to subside.

Wine AdvocateThe 2010 Zinfandel is a plump, fleshy wine bursting with energy. Dark red fruit, flowers, tobacco and wild herbs wrap around the palate in this fleshy, seductive Zinfandel. There is a flashy, exotic quality to the fruit that is hard to describe. Let's just say it is awfully hard to put the glass down. The 2010 is 85% Zinfandel and 15% Petite Sirah from vineyards in Russian River, Sonoma and Dry Creek Valleys. There is no question this is one of the finest values in California. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018.

Wine SpectatorDense and firmly structured, but jammed with rich, layered fruit. Aromas of black cherry and spicy mineral lead to concentrated flavors of boysenberry, licorice and sage. Needs time. Best from 2015 through 2018. 383 cases made.
