It's mystifying how this wine ehibits both suppleness and tension, and a piercing minerality that is unique among Chateauneuf whites we have experienced.

Wine SpectatorGorgeous, with a rich honeyed feel to the pear, star fruit, yellow apple and Cavaillon melon notes, all inlaid with racy anise, jasmine and citrus oil notes. The long finish picks up twinges of chamomile and quinine for added range and length, retaining a flattering feel throughout. A stunner. Drink now through 2026. 415 cases made.

Wine AdvocateWinemaker Mounir Saouma's main business is Lucien Le Moine in Burgundy, and the 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Magis reveals much of those same sensibilities. It's fermented and matured in oak without being dominated by it and boasts surprisingly crisp acids and medium body for Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The result is a wine built on finesse and length rather than raw power, although it doesn't lack for intensity. Spiced tangerine zest and Asian pear notes are underscored by vibrant acids that power the laser-focused finish. Not many white Châteauneufs benefit from aging, but this one practically demands it.
