Domaine Laroche Chablis Les Clos 2015

SKU 1553

The king of the Chablis Grands Crus revealed by Domaine Laroche's "savoir-faire", has intense minerality and exceptional finesse. A great wine for great tasting occasions. This vineyard was formerly entirely surrounded with walls, hence the name "Les Clos". We know from historical sources that the Monks of St Martin of Tours abbey planted vines here in the IXth century. Les Clos is located straight in front of the village of Chablis with a Southern exposure. This favourable sunny situation allows grapes to achieve excellent ripeness. The soil is also well drained and grapes are concentrated in both acidity and aroma. Les Clos is the most long-lasting Grand Cru of Domaine Laroche and offers the most intense minerality. Quite restrained at first, this Grand Cru offers finesse, complexity and a superb length

Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos needs more precision and focus to come though on the nose. There are notes of green apple and chalk and a touch of dried quince in the background, although it needs to show more vigor and authority. The palate is better, with hints of toffee apple and quince on the entry, well judged acidity and flirty flecks of white peach and nutmeg toward the long finish. It actually improves with aeration and should drink well with three or four years in bottle.

Wine SpectatorLush and shot through with lemon cake, apple and vanilla flavors, backed by a lively structure, this is long and nicely balanced in the end, with a lingering aftertaste of spice and citrus. Drink now through 2023. 38 cases imported.
