Deep, dense, and ruby colour. The nose is soft and complex. It displays scents of red berries and currants, undergrowth, and cold tobacco. The palate is long and silky. Very elegant with melted tannins. The wine is complex, subtle, and well-balanced.

Wine AdvocateTasted at the Montrose vertical in Stamford, the 1975 Montrose was served from magnum. The wine was picked between 25 September and 6 October under fine but intermittently stormy conditions. It offers an elegant bouquet with a floral bent, well defined, right but focused with black cherries and cranberry infused with loamy scents. The palate has a little chewiness on the entry, nicely balanced and precise (within the context of winemaking in this period), fresh and composed towards the finish that gives off a touch of volatility. That said, this magnum was far superior to the 1976 and suggests that at least in larger formats, this 1975 will continue to give drinking pleasure.

Wine SpectatorI like the aromas of currant, berry and fresh herbs. Full-bodied, firm and chewy, with a slightly dry tannin structure, like many 1975s, but gorgeous fruit and clarity in this wine. Very good despite the hardness.--Non-blind Château Montrose vertical. Drink now.
