Kistler Cuvée Catherine Pinot Noir 1997
|Appellation||Russian River Valley|
Wine AdvocateThere are approximately 250 cases of the 1997 Pinot Noir Cuvee Catherine. Like its siblings, it has over 14% alcohol, but that is totally obscured by the wine's sensational concentration, extract, and overall equilibrium. A dense ruby/purple-colored, full-bodied Pinot Noir, it offers up aromas of blackberries, raspberries, and cherry liqueur intermixed with licorice, smoke, and meat. Chewy yet not heavy, this wine does reveal some tannin, but it is largely hidden by the wine's fruit, glycerin, and extract. Wow, what an amazing performance!
