Snowden The Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Wine SpectatorOne for the cellar, this is solid, chunky, tannic and dense in all the right measures, with dried herb, cedar, dark berry and gravelly earth notes. Ends with a cleansing gravelly aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2028. 1,570 cases made.
Wine AdvocateI tasted three Cabernet Sauvignon offerings from Snowden. The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon The Ranch seemed a little underwhelming, but round, juicy, with slightly herbaceous tinges, soft, elegant red and blackcurrant fruit, licorice, and dusty, loamy soil scents. It is already drinkable and should probably be consumed within the next decade.
Wine EnthusiastSuper-dark in color, this extracted wine offers a reductive note on the nose, followed by a rustic tinge of hay and brick. Intensely flavored and oaked, it finishes unexpectedly herbal and dry.
