Domaine Pierre Damoy Chapelle Chambertin 2012
The Chapelle-Chambertin grand cru vineyard faces east on a well-drained, gentle slope on the lower hillside east of Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. It is said that the small Notre Dame de Bèze chapel on this site was intentionally burned in the 1830s so that the land could be planted to more vines. This wine comes from a 2.2-hectare (5-acre) plot covered with thin, stony, limestone soils, around the original La Chapelle vineyard; the vines were planted in 1947. Color: Deep ruby. Bouquet: Disarming, hedonistic; violets and honeysuckle. Palate: Quintessential elegance; silk-on-velvet; deliciously fragrant length.
