Domaine Pierre Damoy Chambertin 2011

SKU 10057

The limestone soils of Chambertin have the same ratio of fine earth to pebbles (68 to 32 percent) as Montrachet and-like the Montrachet wines-Chambertin has the potential to age magnificently. This rich, generous wine is selected from a half-hectare (1.2-acre) plot at the extreme north end of the 12.9-hectare (32-acre) vineyard, at an altitude of 275 to 300 meters (900 to 985 feet).

BurghoundThis is also exceptionally spicy and more expressive than recently bottled Chambertin typically is with a pretty nose of earth, plum, floral notes and cassis nuances. There is plenty of concentration to the very serious and almost painfully intense broad-shouldered flavors that display excellent precision on the austere, backward and brooding finish. This is an interesting wine at present as the nose is open yet the palate impression is compact and quite closed.
