Musigny is remarkable for its great purity of colour. The aromas are reminiscent of violet and fruit stone when the wine is young. After eight to ten years, these aromas become very refined and complex: fallen leaves, damp earth, moss and hints of fur or leather. The tasting sensations are incomparable in terms of finesse and harmony. The tannins are elegant, although very much alive. Silk and velvet match the liveliness of the acidity. The lingering aftertaste is dominated by hints of rare, exotic woods as well as candied cherry.

Wine SpectatorThis has some subtle power, but in appearance it's all silk and finesse. Cherry, strawberry, currant and mineral aromas and flavors advance stealthily, as this builds in intensity to a long, lingering conclusion. The finish is its best feature. Best from 2016 through 2035. 28 cases imported.

Wine AdvocateThe 2009 Musigny possesses dazzling aromatic complexity. This is a totally seamless, silky wine that fully captures the essence of its hallowed origins. It is beautifully nuanced throughout, with rose petal, spice and licorice overtones that add complexity and class. The finish is substantial and impeccably balanced. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039.
