Château-Rollan-de-By Medoc 2014
Wine EnthusiastThe home chateau of the group of properties owned by the Guyon family, this estate has produced a solid very ageworthy wine. It has dark tannins and rich juicy black fruits. With its structure and bright berry and plum flavors, it will not be ready to drink before 2020.
Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Chateau Rolland de By has a lovely nose that is beautifully defined with ample redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit knitted into some quality oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well judged acidity, nicely focused but clearly needing a couple of years to fully assimilate the oak on the modern style finish. This is well-crafted and packed full of flavor. Tasted September 2016.
Wine SpectatorThis has a solid black currant and black cherry paste core inlaid with charcoal and singed tobacco notes and backed by lightly brambly structure. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2018. 30,000 cases made.
